Extra Seats
There are occasionally additional seats left over from classes that are clustered with FIG courses, but are not needed for the FIG cluster. When this is the case, students are able to request an add code for one of those extra seats. They need to email cluster@uw.edu with their student number and the SLN of the course they are trying to get into. All requests are filled on a first come first served basis, and the timestamp of the email is taken into consideration in instances where it’s necessary.
FIG Leader Support
199 Printing
During Autumn quarter when we have FIG Leaders teaching classes, we will receive emails to the fyp@uw.edu account requesting printed materials.
There is a form for the FIG Leaders to fill out regarding printing and the link can be found here (should be up during shift): When you print, put them together with a paper clip and add a sticky note with their name on it. Put them on the paper files on the center table.
DO NOT PRINT IN COLOR!
The requests show when they need it by. When you have completed it, copy and paste it to the Completed tab and delete it from the requests.
When you have finished, paper clip the copies together (rubber band if copies of multiple documents), and put in printed pile alphabetically by last name.
FIG email is also now loaded on the FYP profile for current requests. Discard printing that is more than 2 weeks old.
CoRe Part 3 Article Clusters: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1OfB9n_UAc_IVeqtgl-XSPaPGvpmmlOBM
FIG Printing Article Clusters- don't print an article set for each student in a FIG, print enough sets for groups of students
FIG Help
FIG Supply Closet
This is located in Meghan’s office. FIG leaders are able to access at any time during FYP business hours. Closet has FIG candy, markers, games, cards, and other supplies. If a FIG leader needs office supplies (envelopes, labels, paper) these can be found in the FYP supply closet or the kitchen (paper).
FIG Student Grades
If a student in a FIG class comes into the office concerned or wanting to discuss their grade in the 199 GEN ST course, DIRECT THEM BACK to their FIG Leader! FIG Leaders are in charge of grades for their students not us! If you have any questions about this ask a FYP Staff member.
If a student makes it clear that they have already worked with their FIG Leader and still insist on talking to a staff member make an appointment for them on Meghan’s calendar. Make sure to include their name, ID #, their FIG Leaders name, and any other information they tell you so that we have as many details as possible
Letters to Self
When FIG Leaders Bring Letters to the office Instructions: SA's duties
- Confirm there is a bar code on all envelopes
- Confirm all envelopes have full addresses
- Add a sticky note to the top of the stack with the quarter & year they would like us to send the letters (we send at the end of every quarter).
- Bind with a rubber band & place on Meghan’s desk.
Quarter Letters to Self
Supplies needed: Paper for students to write the letters & plain envelopes. Both can be picked up from the FYP office.
-
At the beginning of the quarter (weeks 1 or 2), ask your students to write a letter to their future self that will be delivered to them at the end of the fall quarter.
-
Below are some possible reflection questions:
-
What do you want your future self to be like one year from now?
-
What are the different goals and dreams you want realized by then?
-
What is your desired status for areas of your life? Academics/Studies/Future Career? Money? Family? Friends? Love? Health? Spirituality? Recreation? Contribution? Self-Image?
-
-
Ask your students to date the letter, fold, and seal in the envelope.
-
Finally, have each student write their name on the envelope.
-
Collect the envelopes at the end of the class. It will be your responsibility to hold on to the envelopes throughout the quarter and deliver them to your students during the last class.
Long Term Letters
Supplies needed: Paper for students to write the letters & envelopes with the FYP return address & postage barcode 03-9330. Both can be picked up from the FYP office.
-
Ask your students to date the letter, fold, and seal in the envelope.
-
Finally, have each student write their name and permanent address on the envelope. This should be an address that is least likely to change before the date you expect the letters to be sent. Usually a parent’s or family member’s address.
-
Collect the envelopes at the end of the class. It will be your responsibility to make sure all addresses are complete and legible and that all envelopes have the 03-9330 code
-
Take the envelopes to FYP and bind them together with a rubber band.
-
Finally, put a Post-It note on the top of the envelopes with the quarter and year you would like the letters to be sent.
-
FYP will hold the letters in the office and send at the beginning of the quarter listed on the Post-It note.
