Dawg Daze International Student Guide

A guide for navigating Dawg Daze and finding events that connect with your background, interests, and identities. 

This student-created guide has been made to highlight Dawg Daze events tailored to a specific student population at UW. We believe in fostering an inclusive and diverse community where every student feels welcome and engaged. If you have ideas for additional guides or events that should be featured, please reach out to us at dawgdaze@uw.edu or on the First Year Programs website to provide anonymous feedback. We appreciate your input as we strive to create an enriching and inclusive Dawg Daze experience!

Suzzallo & Allen Libraries Tour  

The Suzzallo and Allen Libraries is the largest of the 11 libraries on campus.  Its collections and resources cover all disciplines, with unique units like newspapers, government publications, maps, and special collections, including the Pacific Northwest History collection... Post Arrival Resource Fair: One Stop Shop for New International Huskies 

Do you need to set up a bank account? How about a cell phone plan? Do you know if you have satisfied the UW vaccination requirements? Do you need to complete the post-arrival check-in process? In collaboration with UW campus partners, local businesses, and the Washington State Department of Licensing, CIRCLE provides you with an opportunity to complete all these tasks at once. Come and join us at the HUB North Ballroom on September 21. There will also be an opportunity to take pictures with our special Dubs! 

International Student Mixer 

Welcome to UW! Stop by anytime between 11am – 2pm to meet new friends! We’ll have snacks from around the world, fun games, and raffle for prizes. 

AIESEC’S Amazing Race  

To explore UW’s iconic landmarks; AIESEC in Seattle will be hosting an Amazing Race! There will be a starting booth to pick up information about AIESEC; small pieces of merchandise; and the first clue to start the race. Participants’ names and starting times will be recorded and then they’ll be off! The race will include five UW landmarks and at each location there will be a QR code to scan for the next clue. Racers will take a selfie at each of the locations before they return to the AIESEC booth in the Quad for their ending time and prize! The fastest runner of the day will be given a grand prize! AIESEC is the International Association of Students in Business and Economics! AIESEC is open to all majors, come join the largest international youth-led NGO. 

Karaoke at Tateuchi East Asia Library 

Come enjoy free Karaoke time at our beautifully remodeled Tateuchi East Asia Library (TEAL) in Gowen Hall. We have a Karaoke music system ready for you or your group. First come first served via reservation. While you are here, please check out our space and amazing Chinese/Japanese/Korean collection too. CISB Info Session       

Are you interested in learning about business; foreign language; global issues; and intercultural competency?  Join us for an info session about CISB; an academic program in the Foster School of Business focused on international business and foreign language coursework with significant opportunities for community building and career development. 

English Café 

Come learn about our English Conversations & Dinner program where you get a weekly opportunity to practice English with native English speakers. Snacks and iced tea provided at the event. Sponsored by IUSM (International Undergraduate Student Ministry) 

Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival 

Hi fellow new and old Huskies‼️ Welcome back! We’re excited to resume offering in-person events for UW and the greater Seattle community! Kick off the school year with the Chinese Student Association (CSA); Hong Kong Student Association (HKSA); Taiwanese Student Association (TSA); and Taiwanese Overseas Student Association (TOSA) by joining us for our annual Mid-Autumn Lantern Night! Come enjoy a night filled with beautiful lanterns; mooncakes; drinks; carnival games; fantastic company; and much more!

Are you an international Christian student (undergrad or grad) looking for a church, or nonreligious but curious to learn more about Christianity? We’d love to have you join us for our first Fall quarter church event! Free dinner provided as part of the event   

International Undergraduate Student Panel: Essential Tips for Successful First Quarter            

New international undergraduate students, as you begin a new educational journey at the UW, join CIRCLE and spend a day with fellow first-year students. The event will begin with Breakfast, followed by registration. Then, the student panelists will share tips and insider knowledge about how they navigated their first quarter at UW. 

Unite UW: Instant Friendships 

Learn about Unite UW; an on-campus cultural exchange program that builds bridges between domestic and international students at the University of Washington! Want to meet Huskies from all over the world? Excited to try new things (campfires, games, sight-seeing, food!) in the Seattle area? Join Unite to make new connections and find your community! 

Mocktail Mixer with AIESEC              

Join us at the AIESEC Mocktail Mixer! If you’re someone looking to meet likeminded new students, looking to join a new club on campus, or a current AIESEC member, this event is for you! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to celebrate the beginning of your UW experience and foster friendships. AIESEC is the International Association of Students in Business and Economics! AIESEC is open to all majors, come join the largest international youth-led NGO.

Volunteer, Internships, & Paid Opportunities (VIP) Fair 

Similar to a career fair, you will be able to browse various opportunities for community engaged work this year with CELE Center programs. You will meet staff, students, and other program participants. We will highlight both volunteer and paid opportunities, including work-study positions to utilize your financial aid. Snacks and prizes will be available! Opportunities will include Pre-12th grade school engagement, STEM engagement, rural & tribal engagement, leadership and service programs, and more. All students are invited to attend! BIPOC, first gen, international, and transfer students are encouraged to attend. 

Murder Mystery Game: Someone’s Died! Come find who killed them with Circle K!  

Get to know Circle K International by solving a murder mystery involving the death of an officer! Bring your thinking caps, an empty stomach, and prepare to meet new friends!
