First Year Programs

Process & Outreach for Reserving A&O Sessions

Students will register for A&O in June  (summer/autumn), November (winter), and February (spring).

After the reservation system opens, the link to register for A&O will be listed directly on the FYP website. When students confirm their offer, they can immediately enter the reservation system to sign up for A&O.

There are four status a student can be coded in our reservation system:

  1. Not in the System: Students who have not started the First Year Checklist. The front desk staff will call students not in the system to encourage them to start their first-year checklist and register for A&O. They receive reminder emails to start the process after they have paid their enrollment fee.
  2. No Reservation: Students who have not made a reservation will be emailed every three days to encourage them to reserve their space for A&O.
    • Shortly after A&O sign-up opens, the FYP Student Staff front desk staff will call the "students not in session" to ensure they do not need additional support. If the student does not answer, we leave a message. If the student does not have an active phone, we send an email.
    • The front desk staff will prioritize upcoming direct to major sessions first in calling as pre-major students will have open sessions all summer.
  3. Pending Submission: Students with a "pending submission" will receive an email encouraging them to continue the process and hit "submit." In most cases, the student believes they have a date but has not reached the confirmation page. About a week after the reservation system opens, FYP student staff will call students who have not moved from the pending submission status.
  4. Submission Received: Students completed the reservation process for A&O sessions (2 & 3) and will receive a confirmation, two-week reminder, one-week reminder, and one-day reminder email with session information.
