Sometimes things change! Typically, FIG classes are clustered in a group that must be taken together. However, if students need or want to adjust their class schedule after the start of Fall Quarter, they can have a conversation with an Adviser or FYP staff member to explore options. Please follow the steps below based on date.

Pay attention to the Academic Calendar for Adding/Dropping Courses or Complete Withdrawal dates

Before 9/24

Before the quarter begins FIGs are clustered and the classes must be taken together. Students can add or drop entire FIGs on their own using the SLN for the GEN ST 199 course in the FIG.

9/24-10/8

Students are now able to drop any FIG classes clustered with GEN ST 199 on their own. Add and drop code restrictions lift at the start of period 3.

If a student would like to drop GEN ST 199, we ask they discuss with their Academic Adviser or complete our FIG Help Form (fyp.uw.edu/fighelp).

  • UAA or OMA&D Advisers*
    • Please consider how students dropping GEN ST 199 impacts the peer leaders teaching these courses. We appreciate you taking the time to have a conversation with students about this course before dropping them.
    • If the student still wants to drop GEN ST 199 after your conversation with them, you can drop them from this course. Your student does not need to attend office hours or complete the request form.
  • Departmental Academic Advisers
    • Please have your student complete our FIG Help Form (fyp.uw.edu/fighelp) and an FYP staff member will follow up with them ASAP.
After 10/8

From Wednesday, October 8 and on, it is the Late Course Drop Period.
Students will need to meet with an Academic Adviser and follow the Current Quarter Drop process.
