Welcome to the Husky family!

For winter quarter, we invite you to view topic-based recordings presented by various campus offices.  After you have reviewed the recordings, please join the offices of Parent & Family Programs and New Student & Transfer Programs for a live Zoom meeting where we will provide an overview of resources available to support your Husky during their transition. We will be available to answer questions and connect with you following the brief presentation.

Academics & Course Registration

Academic advisers are one of the most important connections your student can make. This session introduced the academic adviser's role and provided an overview of the general education requirements that students use to create their class schedules.

Student Health & Well-Being

Your student's health and wellness are important to us. UW Counseling Center and Husky Health Center professionals shared various resources your student can connect with to support their mental health.

Financial Aid

Representatives from the Office of Student Financial Aid answered questions about how financial aid works. Other questions included the cost of attendance, an overview of the different types of financial awards, requesting a revision to financial aid awards, understanding loans, and using aid to pay bills.

Campus Safety

UWPD shared campus safety and resources as well as tips around keeping your student's personal items secure on campus.

Living and dining on campus

  1. Living on Campus: Regardless of where your student lives, there are resources to help them ensure their living environment supports their academic experience. Learn from Housing & Food Services about the services provided and critical move-in timelines. If your student plans to commute to campus, we look forward to welcoming them into the Commuter & Transfer Commons when they arrive on campus.
  2. Engaging in Fraternity & Sorority Life: Find out more from the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life.

Meet with faculty from the UW to learn ways that your student will interact with faculty during their time at the UW, including classroom expectations.
